The two most common colors for kitchen appliances (besides the stainless steel/ metallic finishes) are black and white, also known for their incredible versatility and timeless character. There are a lot of cool ways to work with either black or white kitchen appliances. Usually they’re meant to blend in by matching the color of the cabinetry or the countertops but there are also other inspiring options to consider.
Chic kitchens with white appliances
White is one of the best colors for small kitchens and what better way to maintain a bright and open decor than by opting for white appliances that blend in perfectly? It’s a simple design strategy that’s also very effective.
White kitchen appliances also blend in nicely when other soft or bright colors are involved. For example, this small kitchen has light grey cabinets and rather than choosing stainless steel appliances that would have matched the palette interior designer Danielle Perkins chose to add some contrast to the decor.
White appliances also help make this kitchen look brighter and that wasn’t easy to achieve given that the space has no windows and relies on skylights instead. The light wooden tones look beautiful in combination with the glossy white surfaces.
This kitchen designed by Harrell Remodeling looks very bright and modern, an aesthetic achieved through various elements. It’s not exactly an all-white kitchen even if the cabinets, countertops and appliances are indeed white and this creates a very clean vibe. The kitchen also has a red backsplash and dark grey floor tiles which break the monotony.
Even if all the cabinets, the island, countertops, appliances and even light fixtures are white that still doesn’t make this kitchen look bland or boring. If anything, it gives it a very stylish and elegant allure, studio Lakeside Development made sure of that by playing with different finishes and patterns and by introducing wooden flooring into the design.
Black and white look great together and this apartment takes full advantage of that. Studio Geometrix Design decorated this place using almost exclusively these two colors. The living room is almost all black and the kitchen is almost entirely white.
Elegant kitchens with black appliances
While white appliances are a bit more pretentious and usually only look good when paired with light-colored furniture, black kitchen appliances tend to be the more versatile of the two. You can see them here featured in a kitchen with dark wood cabinets and they look exquisite.{found on danielsremodeling}.
Black kitchen appliances also tend to have a more classic look which makes them a nice option for a variety of styles. This traditional kitchen by Turan Designs is a nice example. It has dark wood cabinets, granite countertops and a travertine backsplash and the black appliances look right at home in this mix.
The black appliances give this kitchen a trendy look. They’re paired with gray cabinets, wooden floors and a white backsplash. Studio Cabinet Works Plus kept this kitchen looking simple and took advantage of the black appliances to add depth and character to the space.
In case it wasn’t obvious already, black appliances look exquisite when paired with black furniture. One of the best examples we can think of is an apartment designed by ZONA Architekci which is defined by a dark and masculine chromatic palette yet looks and feel very welcoming.
Although it might seem a bit odd, black appliances can look gorgeous in white kitchens. The contrast would be strong and intentional and would ultimately change the ambiance in the room. This combo makes perfect sense in this home designed by Robson Rak Architects in collaboration with Made by Cohen.
The interior design of this house is defined by lots of light wood which would become overwhelming and boring if not for the carefully selected dark elements such as the black kitchen appliances and some of the furniture pieces. This is a design created by studio PIKAPLUS.
