During the summer and once every week or two in the winter, you can test your pool ph once or twice a week. The pH should be held around 7.2 and 7.8, the less chlorine the pool will need, the lower the pH on this scale. Adjust pH properly and much less chlorine will be required and used.

Weekly washing of skimmer basket(s):

In the side of the pool, the skimmer is built, it brings along small particles, including leaves and other stuff that may have fallen into the water. Your deck has a round access panel; open it and spill the basket contents as necessary. Cleaning your skimmer and pump strainer baskets once a week is also an easy practice that will support your swimming pool in the long run.

HOUSEHOLD ITEMS:

All the household items used to clean the swimming pool are applicable on traditional chlorine based swimming pools.

Baking Soda:

Baking soda is used to treat yellow and black algae that grow in the water of your swimming pool, particularly if you have a pool above surface because it is smoother on the vinyl walls of your pool.  Backing soda is made of sodium hydrogen carbonate, also known as sodium bicarbonate, which can be contained in many of the alkalinity rises that you can also find in your local pool supply store. The pool specific baking soda cannot be used in cooking and baking as it contains high level of chlorine which is hazardous and cannot be ingested.

Dishwashing Liquid Soap:

A household service will help you find holes and holes in the drainage system and filter lid of your pool where contaminants and bacteria can reach and infect your normally uncontaminated pool water and cause serious damage to the drainage system of your pool. You can’t use this to wash your pool.

Broom:

You can surely use a plastic broom to clean your pool. It clears out dust and dirt from your garage and home and can also be used to help clean and remove debris in your bath. It makes vacuuming the sides and bottom of your pool simpler.

Coca Cola:

Coca-Cola is everyone’s favorite drink but what if it helps us cleaning our most favorite thing in our home that is our pool. You’re reading that correct! Coca-cola will help you disinfect your pool, especially your pool metal handrails and fixtures. Coca-cola contains phosphoric acid, which can truly help release the rust and eliminate it. It can help to maintain the metal fixtures light as well. Just pour in the coke near your metal fixtures in your pool water and you will get it clean.

Again, use a very solid and reliable testing kit to test your pool water composition, and then again after inserting any of these household cleaning products, particularly those which could be used as a substitute to costly pool chemicals. Therefore, you must ensure that the quality of your water is still at the right level to keep it clean and safe for swimming.
